The last couple of weeks I have been getting ready for the trip to Nicaragua. On July 1st, girls came to the Bookmans Low Lounge for our ¡Vamos a Nicaragua! Party. We ate Nicaraguan enchiladas (similar to Mexican tostadas, but with a crumbly white cheese and chopped cabbage on top of the beans), ensalada de frutas, salsa and drank cacao con leche. Besides learning a little more about Nicaragua through pictures and stories, girls learned how to dance the cumbia and learned some basic phrases in Spanish. Girls at the party also got to write letters to Nicaraguan girls and some girls even sang their favorite Girl Scout songs to record and share with Nicaraguan girls.
The Sahuaro Girl Scout Council has also given me some Follow the Reader/Aventura de Lectura books to share with girls in Nicaragua, as well as some fun craft activities from the second Girl Scout Journey: It’s Your Planet ~ Love It!
If you still have Girl Scout stories or activity ideas that you’d like to share, please, post them here on this blog!
Stay tuned for an update from Nicaragua in a couple of weeks!
